How to get your music to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
A few years ago, Apple introduced a new feature that lets you record your songs on an iPhone.
The feature was intended to make recording and playing music on an iPod or iPhone even easier, but it was not exactly a new concept.
Now, Apple has a new way to record music on a Mac—one that can be done without using a Mac at all.
The new recording feature in iOS 10 is called “Record to Mac,” and it’s designed to allow you to record to an external storage device.
You can choose to record your music directly from your Mac, or record it on a device that supports Mac Audio Output (MAC-A) and Apple’s “High Efficiency” format.
The problem with Mac Audio output is that it only supports Mac audio recording.
Apple says the format is “the only option for Mac audio to play on devices that can’t be connected to a Mac,” which means the only device that can record music to an iPod, iPhone, or iPad is the Mac itself.
Macs can’t record to any external device that’s plugged into the Mac.
But there’s a solution.
To record on an external device, you can use “Audio Capture.”
Macs don’t support Mac Audio Capture, but you can turn on “Mac Audio Capture” in iOS’s settings, and then click the “Capture to Mac” button.
Mac Audio capture works by taking your Mac’s audio signal and processing it, which can then be sent to a computer or other device.
Apple says Mac AudioCapture is “designed to record from any Mac on the same network as the Mac,” so you can record from your laptop on the Mac network, for example, and record from the iPad on a local network.
When you turn on Mac Audio recording, you’re able to access your Mac with “Headphones or speakers connected to the Mac.”
You can also record directly from the iPhone or iPad without Mac Audio capturing, by connecting it to an audio interface that supports MAC-A, like a PC, or a Mac Audio interface, like an iPad.
If you have a Mac with MacAudio recording enabled, you’ll be able to record on Macs without the need to create a Mac Backup to iCloud account.
And Apple says you can also use Mac Audio captures with other Macs, too.
In the future, Apple plans to make Mac Audio recordings even easier to use.
“We want to make it easy for people to record their favorite songs, and we want to give you the ability to do that on your Mac,” says MacAudio’s chief product officer, Scott Miller.
