Chia Chi: The World of Music
A Chinese musician from the city of Qingdao has been awarded the prestigious International Award for Arts and Letters for his role in the creation of the world’s most popular musical instrument, the chia chi, according to the Chinese music publication The Next W. A recording of the chias music is on the web, and it is currently being made available to the public.
“I am very grateful to the government of China for the opportunity to be awarded the International Award,” the composer said.
“The chia chis music is the ultimate in harmony.
It is one of the greatest instruments of Chinese folk music and has been around for centuries.”
“The Chinese people love their chia.
They sing it in Chinese folk songs and Chinese dance music, even today it is a symbol of Chinese culture,” said the composer.
“This is why I am so proud of the work I have done.”
He went on to add that the chiang kong song, “the universal chia song”, was also one of his most popular music pieces.
“It is a traditional Chinese folk song that is sung in China and sung by millions of people all over the world,” he said.
The award was awarded to the composer by China’s Ministry of Culture and Information Technology on February 23.
The music composer’s performance of the song was featured in the Chinese version of the BBC’s The Voice, broadcast on December 22.
