Korean folk-rock band performs in a show for children
LIVESTRONG, Texas — A Korean folk rock band performed at the Texas House of Representatives on Wednesday.
The band was formed in 2017 by two men in their 20s and are called The Lad Boys.
The men have been performing together for the past three years, but are now able to hold more shows due to the Affordable Care Act.
“This is a really great opportunity for us to be able to get the message out,” the band’s leader, Lee Sang-young, told KVUE-TV.
Lee and the band have been working on their music since they started playing together in 2017.
They have performed at various concerts in Texas, but the Lone Star State is where the band first came to prominence.
Lee is an assistant professor at the College of Fine Arts at Baylor University and is a former president of the Korean American Music Association.
He said they hope to continue performing, but they have decided to make a change in 2018.
“We want to go out in more traditional forms, and maybe even make some changes in 2018,” he said.
The Lad Boys are scheduled to play at the House of Reps Wednesday night.
They are also planning a concert in Austin in 2019.
